The tiny tots of the city mesmerised the audience with their pure classical dance performance. The Kathak performance was presented by the students of the Alaudin Sangeet Evam Kala Academy here on Tuesday at Shaheed Bhawan.
Noticeably, all the students attended a classical workshop that was conducted by an eminent Kathak dancer Alpana Singh Vajpeyi. During the month long workshop the students learnt various step of Kathak classical dance form.
The children of the State capital were seen enjoying the beauty of one of the oldest classical dance forms of the country as they performed so enthusiastically and with a lot of flexibility.
As the students were taught the basics of Kathak by a noted Kathak exponent Alpana Vajpeyi, they gave a spell-binding performance before the audience.
Further, Alpana has performed across the world and has received huge appreciation by her fans. Further, Alpana is well renowned for her innovations in Kathak styles. She has presented stories of Jesus Christ, Rabindranath Tagore’s stories and Ghalib’s poetries as well. She also received fame after presenting the heart touching story of Raja Baaz Bahadur and Rani Roopmati at Dubai.
The students performed with rhythmic understanding, ability to extemporize with speedy rhythms and preserving pure Kathak classical style and matching the footwork with the music on stage.
Noticeably, the main motive of this summer dance workshop is to enhance the skill of classical dance among children and also the facial and body expressions. She has been trained in traditional ‘Guru Shishya Parampara’ in Bhopal itself by Pt Kartikram of Chakradham Gharana and she taught the same methods to the kids. As many as 25 to 30 children of age group between 5 to 12 years are a part of the performance.
The performance over rhythm and the stylized presentation by the tiny tots was an enchanting experience for the classical art lovers of the city.
