Over 1000 police personnel would be deployed for the security arrangements in the wake of Congress vice president and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi’s visit on Monday in the State capital, told Bhopal Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sreenivasa Varma.
Superintendent of Police (SP) North, Arvind Saxena said that Rahul is provided with Special Protection Group (SPG) and the state police have been entrusted with the responsibility of providing outer security to the top Congress leader.
Traffic and security arrangements in the city have been completed to facilitate the senior Congress leader. Strict security measures would be taken by the district police at the Airport and Minto Hall. The bullet proof car and vehicle equipped with monitoring systems and jammers have arrived in the state capital. Team members of Rahul Gandhi’s SPG team which arrived in the state capital have started its work.
A high level meeting headed by Bhopal DIG Sreenivasa Varma to discuss the security and traffic arrangements was held in the police control room on Saturday. In the meeting senior police officer were assigned the security of Minto Hall and Airport. Superintendent of Police Abhay Singh would be handling the security arrangements of Minto Hall and Superintendent of Police (Head Quarters) Shashikant Shukla would be handling security arrangements at the Airport.
Apart from the security arrangements to avoid disturbing the city traffic diversions have been made. Traffic would be diverted accordingly after 12 noon at VVIP route, Malviya Nagar, Control Room tri junction and fish aquarium areas near Minto Hall. These areas would remain no entry zone for heavy vehicles.
Maintaining high security for the VVIP the road from State Congress Committee towards MPPEB would be made ‘no vehicle zone’ and no vehicle would be allowed on the ply on the road. Congress party workers coming from Sagar and Hoshangabad would have to park their vehicles near Sindhu Bhavan.
