The project will irrigate a large area apart from providing adequate drinking water. Farming will flourish, water level in Malwa will increase and industries will also get adequate water. The Chief Minister informed that Gambhir, Kali Sindh and Parwati rivers will be liked with Narmada river in the second phase. For this, DPR will be chalked out and implemented at the earliest.

He congratulated entire team of Narmada Valley Development Authority for successfully completing first phase of the project within prescribed time-limit of 14 months. Chouhan said that he is overjoyed after seeing Narmada water on the soil of Malwa today. This work is like deed of Bhagirath for bringing Ganga on earth.

Chouhan said that village Ujjaini and confluence point of Narmada and Kshipra waters will be developed as a Holy Pilgrimage Centre. The area will be fully developed. He said that statues of Maa Narmada and Maa Kshipra will be installed here. Image of Bhole Shankar will also be in between the two statues. He urged people not to waste water and use sprinkler and drip system in place of traditional method of irrigation.

Urban Administration and Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said that Chouhan has done the seemingly impossible  work of linking Narmada water with Kshipra river on the soil of Malwa, which is a sign of his strong willpower. MlAs, public representatives, journalists, distinguished citizens and large number of villagers were present on the occasion.
