However, police could recover only Rs 48,000 from their possession. It may be mentioned that few unknown miscreants had looted around Rs 4.5 lakh from one Murli Manohar Agrawal, an oil dealer, while he was visiting a bank to deposit the cash on Wednesday.
While speaking to the mediapersons, DIG Shrinivasa Varma claimed that the planning of the robbery was made few months ago when one of the key conspirators Rakesh had gone to meet Prithvi Singh in Bhopal jail and told him that something big should be done to make money. Rakesh again told that his friend is aware of an Oil trader who visits bank to deposit huge cash each day and he could be targeted easily.
With the help of Tinku, Hari and Sanna, Rakesh and Prithvi robbed the victim after throwing chilli powder in his eyes and while they were fleeing, police personnel identified the two miscreants by patrolling police in Bhanpur and Chhola Mandir area and were arrested later. On Wednesday morning at around 8 am the victim Agrawal was robbed by four miscreants while on his way to bank to deposit cash. One of the miscreants threw chilli powder in victim’s eyes due to which the victim fell and later the miscreants snatched the bag stuffed with cash and fled the spot.
Victim is a resident of Rachna Nagar and used to visit the bank in the morning to deposit the money. During the robbery a youth tried to rescue the victim but was threatened by a sharp edged weapon by one of the miscreants. The victim is trader and deals in oil. He owns a shop in Old city area.
