Three friends sustained serious injuries after being struck by a speeding car in the early hours of Friday, May 30, 2025, in the New Market area of Bhopal. The trio, who were having breakfast near the Panchanan building, were hit by a car reportedly coming from the wrong direction. The impact was severe, leaving the victims with critical and serious injuries.
The injured—Surendra Malviya (27), Amit Chauhan, and Anil Dagde—were immediately rushed to the Narmada Trauma Center. Surendra Malviya remains in critical condition in the ICU, while Amit and Anil have sustained severe injuries to their arms and legs. Their families have expressed deep concern over their recovery, especially Surendra’s condition, which remains life-threatening.
The accident occurred at around 3:39 a.m., according to Mansingh Chaudhary, in-charge of TT Nagar police station. CCTV footage from a nearby camera has provided valuable evidence in the case. The footage shows a car with three to four occupants losing control and crashing into the group of friends. The car’s occupants, who are suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, immediately fled the scene after the incident.
The police have begun their investigation, using the footage to track down the suspects involved in this reckless act. Authorities are hopeful that the evidence will lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible for the hit-and-run.
Amit Chauhan, who operates a clothing stall in the New Market area, often gathered with his friends Surendra and Anil for late-night meals. The three, who had been friends for many years, were innocently sitting together when their routine turned into a tragic nightmare. Amit’s relatives, who are devastated by the incident, demanded justice, stating, "Our children were just sitting there, not harming anyone. We demand strict punishment for those responsible."
In response to the growing outrage, the police have filed a case against unknown persons and are actively searching for the absconding suspects. The hit-and-run incident has sparked a wave of concern over road safety and reckless driving in the area, with residents calling for more stringent enforcement of traffic laws and stronger penalties for offenders.
