The students aspiring to enter the theatre world as writers have a golden chance to learn the basics of being a playwright. A theatre writing workshop is being organised by Madhya Pradesh School of Drama (MPSD) for the students. The workshop began on June 7 at MPSD’s premises that would conclude on June 28.

As many as 25 students participated in the workshop. Further, renowned playwrights were invited to teach the students basics and do’s and don’ts in writing a play. Three noted names in the world of theatres Asif Haider, Yogesh Tripathi and Rameshwar Prem provided training to the students and taught them how to write a Hindi play.

While talking to The Pioneer, Director of MPSD Sanjay Upadhyay said, “We want to enable writers to create the best entertaining, challenging and profound work. This workshop was organised to nurture writing skills of the students that includes the delights and surprises. We want the writers to work from conception to production.”

The most important aspect of writing a play is to think of a concept and then to mold the concept into the form of the story. While elaborating further about play writing, Sanjay said, “After deciding a concept and story the second step of play writing is to think of the genre of the play and then the characterization of the play plays a vital role. As many as 75 plays have been prepared till now. Sanjay said, “A single student wrote three plays and has prepared the content of the story.” Out of these 75 plays three plays would be selected to be presented on the concluding day of the workshop, he added.

The plays would be staged at Swaraj Bhawan here on Friday by the students of MPSD, informed Sanjay further.
