A Hindi play ‘Tathastu’ was wonderfully staged on Wednesday at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium.
With the message ‘Save Girl Child’ the play was performed marking the first day of 11th Complete National Theatre Festival 2017. The fest is all about comedy plays to be staged.
Directed by a renowned playwright of the city KG Trivedi, the play was brilliantly performed by the artists of Trikarshi Theatre Group, Bhopal.
The play began with introducing a joint family with two beautiful daughters, their parents and their grandpa.
Grandpa is the head of the family and urges for a grandson.
He never loves his granddaughters and always wanted a grandson to play with, to enjoy with and the one who can take the generation forward.
But, the protagonist of the play i.e. his son disagrees to the fact. He believes that the girls are equivalent to boys.
looking at this attitude of his father, he fights for his daughters. But, there were no changes seen in grandpa’s behaviour.
To teach him a lesson, his son and daughter-in-law play trick. His son tells him that he is expecting with a baby.
The eventful situations that arise to make grandpa realise the importance of daughters in home and society formed rest of the story.
The hilarious fillers by other characters were also well received by the audience as the intense concept was explained to the audience in a very comic manner.
Director of the play KG Trivedi told The Pioneer, “The play showcases about the cruel mentality of the society which prevails even today. Comically we have moulded the story to let the audience realise about female foeticide and other struggles faced by daughters.”
