A four-day theatre festival Rang Aviram began here from Monday at Ravindra Bhavan Auditorium. On the opening day of the festival, the story of untold desires and dreams of an old man was witnessed in a Hindi play ‘Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai’.
The play is written by an eminent author hails from the city, Srikant Apte and was directed by a well known theatre director of Bhopal, KG Trivedi. The artists of Trikashi theatre group presented the play before the audiences.
The play displayed the unfulfilled desires of two retired friends. KG Trivedi said, “It is a very simple satire script. The script undoubtedly lessens the gap between the audiences and the theatre plays, as the audiences could relate their stories with the story of the play.”
It shares the desires of Sadananda Joshi, who wish to change his attire from a simple kurta-pyjama to T-shirt and pants. The characters in the play seem to be entangled in their own complications and their efforts to overcome these complications, which in turn creates more troublesome situations. The play creates the satire and left the audiences whirled in the strokes of laughter. “I feel that there is not much difference between a five year old child and a 60 year old man. It is present in our nature to fulfill all the desires of a child but, think twice before even listening to a small wish of our elders. This mentality needs to be changed,” Trivedi said. The audiences were spell-bounded by the performance of the artists. They were awestruck by the presentation of the show.
The lighting and stage display were simple yet it enhanced the mood of the scenes. It was a delightful treat for the theatre-goers. The festival would conclude on
June 20.
