To stage the short stories of eminent writers, a theatre festival ‘Natya Roop 2013’ is being organised at Bharat Bhawan here from Monday. The five-day theatre festival would showcase different stories on stage at Antrang Hall, Bharat Bhawan.
The festival is being organised by Rangmandal, a theatre repertory wing of Bharat Bhawan. On the opening day of the Natya Roop 2013, a story by Hindi litterateur Gajanan Madhav ‘Muktibodh’ Samjhauta was presented before the Bhopalites. Here on Tuesday, the story by Kamta Nath Sankraman was presented before the theatre goers.
Directed by an eminent theatre director of National School of Drama (NSD) New Delhi Manohar Taili, the play was wonderfully presented by the students of NSD. Sankraman (The Circle of life) by writer Kamta Nath is reflective of the transitory yet ironically unchanging nature of life and way of being.
The production was entirety mesmerising, be it in its backdrop or in the virtuosity of the actor's craft is significant of a simplicity that is commendable. As the name suggests the circle of life, the story focuses on the relationship between parents and children. The play is set in the flashback of old memories. It portrays the untold relationship between a father and a son.
The middle class family is based in a city of Uttar Pradesh and story revolves around their lives. The play was a splendid synchronization between the past and the present situation. The play as a whole created a connectivity between the storyline and the audiences as the presentation was lively and full of enthusiasm.
According to the in-charge of the festival, Prem Shankar Shukla, “This particular drama festival is based on tagging the stories by the eminent writers of the country. The directors have to stage the story in a dramatic form before the theatre goers so that they can enjoy a different form of stage performance.”
