Marking the third day of Shakespeare Fest, on Saturday, ‘The Globe Theatre’ was held. It was held in two categories – Soliloquies and Monologues.
The participants of this event were given the task to recite the soliloquy and monologues of plays written by William Shakespeare.
The participants send their video recordings of either of the categories. The video was of about 120 seconds. The selected videos will be awarded.
The first category 'Soliloquy' was often used by William Shakespeare.A soliloquy is a word taken from Latin and it means 'talking by oneself.
' It's a device that dramatists including Shakespeare used to allow a character to communicate his or her thoughts directly to the audience. The most famous is Hamlet's 'To be or not to be' soliloquy, where Hamlet contemplates suicide.
Besides, the second categry was Monologue. A monologue in a play is simply a long speech by one character to other characters, or a crowd.
Shakespeare frequently makes use of both soliloquys and monologues in each of his plays to let the audience know the characters' thoughts and feelings. On Sunday, other unique competitions like ‘Bard Goes Bollywood’ – Recasting Shakespeare’s famous plays with Bollywood artists and ‘A Wish for William’ Drawing competition will be held.
