Under the regular series of stage performances, Hindi play ‘The Father’ was beautifully staged at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum here on Friday. The play was performed under ‘Abhinayan’.

The play was directed by Nizam Patel one of the eminent playwrights of Bhopal. The drama The Father was splendidly performed by the artists of Mahi Theater Group.

The Father drama was written by August Strengenberg in 1887.

Translated by Mohan Maharishi the story of the drama revolves around Captain Adolf his wife laura and daughter Bertha.

Adolph is an army officer and a freelance scientist, he and his wife disagree about the future of their daughter Bertha.

Adolf wants to make daughter a teacher while his wife wants to make daughter an artist.

There is no reconciliation between husband and wife, and there is a lot of confusion about the many issues between them.

Adolf's wife, meeting with her family doctor, wants to prove her eccentric and crazy, she provokes him, gives anger to her.

Even about his daughter, he instills in his heart that he is not his father.

Adolf has finally stuck in his move and breaks his mental and spiritual way.

These stories depicting men and women's relationships accurately depict the social norms, beliefs and casteism of the time, and take a straight look at the society.

The play was much enjoyed by the audience as the efforts of the theatre troupe was clearly seen on stage.
