Tharoor objects Gehlot’s campaigning for Mallikarjun Kharge

Shashi Tharoor, the congress presidential candidate was in Bhopal on Friday seeking votes for his election. He appreciated the welcome he got in Bhopal and thanked PCC Chief Kamal Nath and Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Govind Singh. Earlier, he had alleged discrimination in several states where he visited for election campaign.

Tharoor objected to campaigning of Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot for Mallikarjun Kharge who is also a candidate for Congress president. "Congress Election Authority chief Madhusudan Mistry should see where it is going wrong. Take action accordingly”-he said.

MP Tharoor said during his meeting in the PCC auditorium “The Election Commission has ordered that no big leader, president or chief minister should openly support any candidate. The Congress High Command and the Election Commission should take necessary action”.

Tharoor said that he is a candidate of change while Kharge is a candidate of the leadership.

Kharge cannot bring the change that he thinks is necessary for both the Congress and the country. Tharoor made this statement in the PCC auditorium in the presence of senior leader former minister Rajkumar Patel and MLA Laxman Singh. Earlier he met Kamal Nath. The special thing is that Digvijay Singh's brother and MLA Laxman Singh stayed with Shashi Tharoor the whole time.

Shashi Tharoor has already expressed his displeasure over the double behavior. He had lamented earlier that some leaders openly support his poll opponent Mallikarjun Kharge and accused that it disturbs the level playing field.

“If the big leaders of the party will make such a difference between two candidates, then how can it be considered right”-he asked.

Shashi Tharoor said, in the 2014 and subsequent 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress got 19% of the votes under the leadership of the Gandhi family.

With this we cannot think of giving a leadership to this country. The only remedy for this is that we have to show the public that the Congress party is becoming an attractive party again.

Tharoor was received at the airport by former minister Rajkumar Patel. After this he left the airport and reached PCC. Here he met PCC Chief Kamal Nath, MP Congress's state in-charge JP Aggarwal and discussed with prominent Congress leaders. This was followed by a meeting with the delegates in the PCC auditorium.
