With the help of Antyavasayi Sahkari Samiti in Khandwa district, a couple in Veerpur Junapani village succeeded in establishing a business of dona-pattal (disposable utensils made of tree leaves).
Resident of Veerpur Junapani in Khandwa district Rajanti Bai spent her time in household work and managing her home. Having two children, the needs of the family were increasing and Rajanti Bai thought she too started to contribute in the family income through some small business at home.
One day Rajanti Bai was told by her husband Anil Dhamne that she can easily start the business of manufacturing dona-pattal from home. This could fetch her Rs 200-300 per day. Anil approached Khandwa Antyavasayi Sahkari Samiti office and applied for a loan. A few days late a loan of Rs 1.5 lakh was approved in her name in which she also got a grant of Rs 45,000.
Now Rajanti Bai and her mother in law leela Bai together manufacture dona pattal at home whenever they find free time through which they make about Rs 10,000 per month.
Rajanti Bai’s husband told that considering his wife’s desire, he too helped in the business. Aimed at expanding their business, Anil purchases disposables glasses, spoons, plates and other related goods from Indore wholesellers and sells here. He told that that he supplies disposable materials from home to Khandwa shopkeepers and nearby villages which fetches him good additional income.
Rajanti Bai repays loan installment of Rs 3,200 per month. Educated till class 10 Rajanti Bai says that she does not wish her children to see any poverty which she has faced earlier in her mother’s home or in the house of in laws. Thus she is running a disposable house set up after naming it after her son Atharva. Rajanti Bai wishes to spend her hard-earned money in good education of their children.
