Home Minister Bhupendra Singh on Monday told the State assembly that terrorism is a major challenge before the country now and the State Government took prompt and stern action against it.
While replying to the call attention notice brought by Congress members Govind Singh, Ramnivas Rawat and Shailendra patel, Singh informed the House that the Government succeeded in controlling three major terrorism incidents in Madhya Pradesh only due to strong intelligence network.
He said that the State police aprtly worked on three incident- jailbreak by SIMI activists, parallel telephone exchange for ISI network and the train bomb blast reported in the State recently.
Regarding the jailbreak incident, he told that this was for the first time in the country that such a prompt action was taken and all the eight SIMI activists were gunned down in the outskirts of Bhopal.
Similarly, Singh stated that in the train bomb blast case, the police within five hours succeeded in nabbing the terrorists. For this, Madhya Pradesh police should be congratulated, he added.
However, Congress members that were trying to corner the Government alleging there was intelligence failure, failed in the bid and were forced to congratulate the State Government and the State police for prompt action.
Singh informed the House that the train blast case has been handed over to the NIA and further investigation is being conducted by national investigating agency.
Talking about the illegal telephone exchange case, Singh stated that such exchanges are operational throughout the country, but in Madhya Pradesh, police took immediate action. The investigation conducted so far has revealed that accused got engaged in this business in want of easy money. The investigation is being conducted by ATS, he added.
