A movie depicting the life of soldiers and their training in snowy areas 'Taming of Snow' was screened at Shaurya Smarak on Monday.
Presented by the Film Division of India, the movie was directed by NM Ghate.
The film was screened under the regular film screenings held at Shaurya Smarak every day. The movies screened here are based on the Indian Army, Navy, and other armed forces. It is to be noted that the film featured the brave hearts who protect the country from high-level regions.
This film describes the constant vigil our jawans kept on the grim heights of Kashmir during a bitter winter. Fighting against heavy odds in unusual circumstances, and on heights which had never before heard the roar of guns, our soldiers guard the country there.
Guarding this region is not at all a cakewalk by any means. Temperatures can reach as low as -60 degrees Celsius, oxygen drops sharply and even the food one eats, gets frozen often. Soldiers here face not just the threat of enemies from across the border but from diseases such as frostbites, severe depression, pulmonary and cerebral edema.
On many occasions, these deadly diseases result in the death of a jawan. The training in these regions is rigorous and so the soldiers have to keep up their spirits. Various precautions and cautions are taught to the soldiers, which were depicted in the movie. It is to be noted that everyday movies based on the bravery of the Indian army, air force, navy, and police are being screened at Shaurya Smarak. The regular film screening is being organized as a tribute to their contributions and their sacrifices.
