According to the new education policy, theater education and arts are now being given great importance. Rabindranath Tagore University is establishing the Tagore National School of Drama.Tagore National School of Drama is being established in Rabindranath Tagore University campus in which two year M.A. in Dramatic Art and one year PG Diploma in Dramatic Art full time residential courses are being started.
Along with this, about 30 selected theater students will have to do their diploma course by staying in the campus itself.Besides, a 5 thousand per month scholarship is also being provided to 20 selected students for their expenditure.
August 2021 session is starting in Tagore National School of Drama. The main objectives of the school of drama are to develop the process of imagination in the youth and to encourage original thinking, to create a sense of aesthetics and love for theatre, to inculcate the instinct of discovery and to become aware of the environment around them, their family and society.
To make them aware of their role in this, to develop the tendency of creativity, to develop an understanding of the interrelationships of other arts, to continuously study the creative personalities, to find and train the talents of theater in remote areas, to make them professionally proficient.
Apart from this, preserving folk drama, documenting folk theatrical stories that have been showing for years, disciplining amateur theater performers in small towns towards theater and bringing them on one platform.
