Sections of society which are  usually ignored were highlighted in the play ‘Taarikhien’.  The Hindi poetic play was staged at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum here on Friday.

It is to be noted that the play was performed under the regular series of drama ‘Abhinayan’ which is organised by tribal museum every Friday. under Abhinayan, the theatre artists from across the country bring their new productions to be staged before the Bhopalites.

The play Taarikhien is a huge collage of lyrical poems by a renowned poet Shahnaz Imrani. The poems talk about the sections of society which are left unnoticed by everyone around them. It is a also a common fact that there are many aspects untouched by our society. The laborours and the women of their houses are looked down upon.

Basically, ‘Taarikhien’ is based on the social issues which are usually overlooked by the society. The play is conceptualized and directed by a young playwright Devanshi Soni Sinha and was brilliantly performed by the artists of Youth Wing of Nat Bundele theatre troupe, Bhopal.

16 poems by Imrani were compiled by Devanshi. This drama seemed to show the class of society, which is often sidelined. What is the thinking of the proletariatIJ What is their ideology of societyIJ What is the attitude of womenIJ The view of society towards them, all these scenes were presented emotionally to the audience. Poems were presented in a different style through drama.

In poetry, all these questions were presented brilliantly. The director has tried to simplify the complexities of the poems through scenes and stage acting. The music of the play also seems to make its story, scenes and poems worthwhile. Music for the play was given by Kalpana Sinha.

“There are some complexities in the poems but we have tried to make it a bit easier through actors through scenes,” said Devanshi.
