SWC accuses Joint Director of pressurising NIFT students

State Woman Commission (SWC) has raised allegations against the former Joint Director of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) of pressurising the girls student who changed their statements on Tuesday. Earlier on December 7, 2013 a case of molestation was registered by the Chuna Bhatti police after receiving complaint by the girl students of NIFT Bhopal against former joint director Vasant Kothari . On February 10, 2014 NCW Chairperson Charuwali Khanna visited the city and met the  student victims . Recently on court’s order, 6 out of 15 students were questioned by Chuna Bhatti but surprisingly the six students  denied of all allegations raised earlier but the State Woman Commission was not ready to buy the theory.

The State women chairperson Upma Rai has raised allegations that all the complainant girls had been pressurised to deny the allegations of harassment made against Kothari and on Monday finally the ill efforts made by him succeeded. She had also claimed that the victims might have succumbed to the pressure but the SWC is not going to leave the fight and would not leave the culprit.

The girls who have denied allegations have clearly mentioned in their earlier recorded statements at SCW that they were harassed sexually. All possible efforts were made to shield Kothari which is evident from his transfer to Jodhpur after the matter came into fore, statements made by the NIFT director general PK Gera’s  which were criticized by NCW. NCW members also expressed displeasure on the five committees formed which increased the problems of the victims as they have to repeat the same incidents in front of the committee members.
