The school students of the city are enthusiastically learning about the model rocketry at a workshop organised at Regional Science Centre. On Monday, the participants launched their rockets with a lot of excitement.
The students on the concluding day launched their rockets. As many as 30 rockets were launched on the day leaving the parents awestruck.
Notably, the Model Rocketry was organised as a part of summer vacation workshop for the middle school children to enjoy the science facts in a fun learning way. Besides, 22 students from different schools of Bhopal participated in the workshop.
During the workshop the students are taught about the basic principles of rocketry, its history, parts of a rocket such as Body Tube, Coupling Tube, Nose Cone, Fins, Thrust Ring and launch lug in details and its significance in modern days. The students learned to prepare the small version of the original rocket along with the parts used in it. The students have prepared two rockets individually along with Altitude Tracker just to track the movement of the launched rocket. Further the students also prepared an Altitude Calculator to measure the approximate height of the launched rocket.
On the second last day launching of the rockets was done. Students enthusiastically gave creative name to their rockets like Aryabhatta, Mangalyaan, Agniyaan, low Flying Rocket Mission and more. Students made the swing test and calculated the Centre of Gravity and Centre of Pressure for each rocket.
Education Officer of science centre MM Rout said, "This was the most memorable and exciting moment for all the students as they have launched their own rockets before their parents. The students undoubtedly enjoyed the activity and were really excited about launching their own rockets." Rout further informed that the workshop will conclude on Tuesday.
