Children are leaning the unique art of handicraft and painting in a summer workshop. Being organised at Mayaram Srijan Bhavan the workshop began here from May 3.

Under the month long workshop the children are learning the basics of creating artistic pieces out of waste material and the handmade sheets. Notably, Ekrang Socio Cultural Society every year organizes summer workshop for the school students to learn new things that may also include dance, music, painting, acting, theatre, embroidery and more. These workshops are being organised for the students to enhance their skills into different artistic fields which may also prove beneficial for them in the coming years.

While talking about art and craft workshop, in-charge and trainer of  art Swati Joshi said, “Under this workshop, children with the use of waste material give shapes to their perceptions and thoughts. Whatever they like to make or learn I train them according to it. Some may like to make animals, or some may make structures or pots and more,” she added. For handicraft workshop she said, “Here children learn to do work with paper and how a sheet of paper could be used as a decorative item in their projects or so.”

The little artists are learning to create various art pieces that portray their hidden outlook about what they feel. They wonderfully played with the colours and created pieces according to their artistic perceptions. Under ceramic workshop the children are also taught to create their imagination through paper-mache.

Starting from the basics like cutting, pasting and folding, the children have learnt to make 2D and 3D objects. They are also learning to make the decorative items, greeting cards, and also 3D projects as well.

Interestingly, the children are enjoying the workshop and are taking full pleasure of it as they are learning new things under it. The workshop would continue till June 2.
