Punishment for reaching late on duty and refusal to grant leave forced a CISF woman constable posted at Raja Bhoj Airport to attempt suicide by shooting herself on August 5.
Two days after the victim attempted suicide, her statements were recorded in which she has claimed that she was harassed by her deputy commandant Vijay Kumar for being arriving late on duty and not providing her leave.SP Bhopal (North) Arvind Saxena told The Pioneer that the statements of the victim has been recorded by Tehsildar Nikita Tiwari and in the statements victim has claimed that her Deputy Commandant Vijay Kumar has punished her on a petty issue and was not ready to hear her explanations for the delay.
The condition of the victim remains critical even after 48 hours of the incident as her lungs have also been infected and as the bullet was fired from very close range, it has also punctured the stomach.Following this, the victim suffered huge blood loss and has become feeble.Chances of her survival could not be ascertained, he added. Saxena also informed that action could be taken after recording statements of advocate Sidhant Awasthi and Surendra Singh posted with ITBP and her friends with whom she had shared the incident and her depression due to the circumstances.
She was also given a punishment to stand for two hours which augmented her frustration and she shot herself.Victim cop’s family members provided the same details regarding the harassment of the victim and claimed that she was harassed by her senior officer.
