Submit report, MPHRC tells MANIT Director

Published on:

Taking cognizance of pathetic condition of students in Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) hostels, Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has asked the Director of the Institute to submit a report in this regard.

A few students from the Institute had approached the MPHRC office and lodged a complaint stating that the hostels in the Institute are not in good condition where students could live. During the rains, the roofs of the hostels leak and it has not been repaired despite having approached the MANIT authorities, they alleged. No one seems to respond to their complaints. Hostel number three and four are in unhygienic state and thus it is impossible for the students to live there.

In their complaint, students further alleged that at the time of admission, they were told to adjust in these rooms for the time being only and promised that good condition rooms would soon be made available soon. However, the situation has been same for the last three to four years. They claimed that the situation has further worsened as in few rooms, the students have been allotted only 3x2.5 square metre space to live in.

The institution many a times promised that the students will be allotted new rooms, but it was never fulfilled even after the full payment of the fees.

As there was no other choice the students approached MPHRC. The Commission has asked the Director of MPHRC to submit complete report on the issue.
