Pressure of study has taken yet another toll in the city when an 18-year old girl shot herself dead at her residence in Saket Nagar locality of the city on Saturday morning. The incident came to light on Saturday at 7 am when mother of the deceased went to wake up her daughter in her room.
To her utter dismay, she found her daughter Arundhati Singh (18) lying on her bed in a pool of blood. She raised an alarm, prompting her neighbours to rush to the incident site. Palasia police after being informed also rushed there along with forensic experts. After `panchnama’, the body of the deceased was sent to hospital for post-mortem.
According to family members of the deceased, Arundhati had been preparing for her competitive examinations from Bangalore. She had come to Indore in December after taking a drop. last night she was found studying till 1.30 am. At the time of incident, Arundhati was alone in her house along with her mother. Her father Sanjay Singh who is a regional head in a private company in Bhopal, was out of the city on business trip. The deceased’s grand father is a retired IPS officer.
According to police, Arundhati who was apparently under study stress, shoot herself to death from the licensed pistol of her father.Meanwhile, Palasia police have registered the case and initiated probe into the matter.
This is second incident of this nature within a span of a week. Few days back, a 21-year-old girl had died after she fell from the rooftop of her residential building in Vijay Nagar locality. Examination stress was suspected to the reason behind the incident.
