The poor students despite having selected in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) are moving from pillar to post seeking benefit under the 'Meghavi Chhatra' scheme introduced by the State Government.

Under the scheme, if any student secures 60 per cent marks in Higher Secondary examination conducted by Madhya Pradesh Board or 85 per cent marks in CBSE school exam, and gets admission in IIT, the State Government would bear all fee expenses of the student in the IIT.

This scheme was launched few months back. However, in this scheme, there is no clarity whether the students who passed Higher Secondary examination last year and for clearing JEE, they did not appear any exam this year and got admitted in IIT.

Assistant Martial at Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Veerendra Mishra's son Pranjal got admitted in IIT Rurkee. He did approach the authorities but to no avail.

"I visited the website of Technical Education Department and got my son registered. But while filling up the application form, that did not accept the details of students clearing Higher Secondary exam in the year 2015-16," he said, informing that within two days he has to reach Rurkee for admission of his son.

Mishra further said that in past two weeks he has moved Minister Deepak Joshi, Principal Secretary Kalpana Shrivastava and other senor officials, but they turned deaf ears. He says that in the newspapers, when this scheme was declared, it did not have mention regarding only those students clearing Higher Secondary only in 2017 would get benefited with the scheme.

Principal Secretary in Technical Education department Kalpana Shrivastava told The Pioneer’ that there is no provision for the drop out or previous year’s pass out students in the scheme. “As per the scheme, such students cannot get benefits,” she added. Another senior official of the department told that there are a number of such cases, but nothing can be done, as they are out of the scheme. It is the discretion of CM only. The students should approach the Chief Minister, he added.
