A 22-year old Best Price store employee was arrested by Nishatpura police on the charge of molesting a 10-year-old girl on Sunday. A case was registered against the offender after receiving complaint of molestation.
According to the police, the incident was reported at Best Price store of Wallmart situated at Karond.
SHO of Nishatpura police station Rajeev Jangle told that the incident took place at around 7.30 pm on Sunday, when the victim purchased a family pack of ice-cream and approached the offender for getting the icecream packed in an ice packet.
Since, the place where the icecream was being packed, was a secluded place in the store, the offender, later identified as Hakeem Shah of Nawab Colony, molested the victim.
Soon after the incident, the girl raised an alarm and rushed to her parents. The incident was intimated to the store manager and later, to the police.
Jangle told that the FIR was registered within few minutes after the victim along with her parents reached the police station. Besides, the offender was also nabbed within few minutes. He was produced in a local court on Monday from where he was sent to jail.
During the investigation, police have found that the accused had some issues in the past due to which he had behaved differently, but the exact reason is still unknown and would be investigated.
Past record of the accused would be searched told the police. The CCTV camera footage would be searched and the employees of the store would be questioned regarding the incident and it would be investigated that the accused was involved in such incidents or he is first time offender.
The police have registered a case under 354 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
Meanwhile, Rajneesh Kumar, VP - Corporate Affairs of Walmart India, in an official statement, said, “This is a very serious matter and we have suspended the employee already. We are fully cooperating with the concerned authorities.”
