In a major development, the Special Task Force (STF) Bhopal, probing into MP PMT impersonation scam here on Saturday submitted its charge-sheet against 29 accused in the court of the First Session Judicial Magistrate Manoj ladia.
Besides filing charge-sheets against 29 accused, the STF also submitted a list of 856 students procured by it from MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) before the magistrate asserting that these students were also suspected to have secured admission into the State Medical colleges through MP PMT impersonation racket unearthed by Indore police in July this year.
Ashish Khare, IG, STF Bhopal, informed that the STF, which brought the charge-sheet files from Bhopal in a mini truck here on Saturday, submitted its charge-sheets against all the 29 accused arrested by the Indore police earlier in July this year under section 420/67/68/71 of the MP PMP Examination & IT Act before the court of first session judicial magistrate Manoj ladia, after end of 90 days’ period into the probe.
However, the charge-sheets, according to Khare, did not find mention of former MPPEB controller Pankaj Trivedi who had been arrested by the STF last month and who is under police custody till October 7 this month.
A separate charge-sheet would be filed against Dr Trivedi after completion of probe against him, Khare informed media persons here. The MP PMT impersonation racket was unearthed by the crime branch of Indore police on July 7 this year following raids at several places in the city. During the course of raids, police had arrested 29 students who had appeared as dummy candidates in the MP PMT examination held this year.
Few days after arrest of these students, police had arrested an Indore-based king-pin of the gang Dr Sagar from a hotel in Mumbai. In subsequent days, police also had arrested some other officials of MPPEB and independent persons who were allegedly a party to the huge impersonation racket scam.
Indore police that were probing into the case initially, later handed over the case to STF Bhopal for further probe. Inquiring into the matter further, the STF few days back had arrested former controller of MPPEB, Dr Pankaj Trivedi who after being summoned before a local court here has been sent on police remand till October 7 this month.
