Govindpura police have nabbed a 34-year-old step-father for sexually assaulting his 11-year-old daughter at Rajeev Nagar on Wednesday.
Police said that the accused was caught by victim’s mother on her return from work and she alerted neighbours and later accused was handed over to the police.
The mother of the victim works with a private company and when she returned at around 5 in the evening on Wednesday she found that the accused was sexually assaulting the victim and alerted the locals who nabbed the accused and later he was handed over to the police.
In her complaint the victim told the police that the accused used to molest her and on Wednesday she was sexually assaulted.
After the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 376(2)(f) and 376(2)(h) and section 5 and 6 of the POCSO Act and have started further investigation.
Police said that on Thursday the accused was produced in the court and was sent under judicial custody.
The victim’s mother married the accused after she separated from her first husband and started to live with the accused from April 2018 along with her daughter.
Police found that the victim was sexually exploiting for the past few months but on Wednesday her mother found accused committing sexual assault.
During the investigation police found that the accused targeted the victim after two weeks of the her mother’s marriage with the accused but she was threatened by the accused and kept mum and revealed only after she was caught facing atrocity.
