Railways has decided in principle that no new projects would be started by railways on its own and if any project has to be started, the State from which the railway  project would pass, shall have to bear 50 per cent of the cost of the project. This was said by Chairman of Indian Railway Board Ashwini lohani while interacting with the media persons on his one day inspection to Jabalpur.

Demand of new railway project is raised across the country but railways do not have enough to cater to the demands of all the regions and due to which the decision has been taken. The ongoing projects would be completed by the railways but for future projects which include construction of new railway tracks, doubling of railway tracks and other works would only be done if concerned state would provide 50 percent of the cost of the project.  The decision has impacted Jabalpur-Indore new railway track project in which the detail report of the project has been sent to the state for providing 50 per cent of the cost of the project and in case if the state government would provide money for the project the project would be started.

Answering to question of trains running late lohani said that for the next few months the passengers have to bear the brunt of late running trains as important work regarding conservation and protection which are supreme have been done across the country. The measures include strengthening of railway tracks, bridges and culverts and signaling which would decrease the chances of accident around nil and along with this the timing of the trains would improve and would run on time.
