Statements of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his wife Sadhna Singh were recorded before the chief judicial magistrate in the district court here on Tuesday in connection with the defamation suit filed by them against leader of Opposition in State Assembly, Ajay Singh.
On July 12 this year, Chouhan and his wife had served a legal notice on Ajay Singh for the latter’s remarks against Sadhna Singh.
Talking to media persons, complainants counsel Deepesh Joshi said the court had fixed August 16 for hearing the case. The statements of the CM and his wife were recorded under section 200 of the Cr PC in the court of CJM SK Pandey.
The complainants alleged that during the Congress’ Parivartan Yatra, Ajay Singh, at Khargone on Jume 4, had described Sadhna Singh as a currency note counting machine, and also held her responsible for illegal mining in the State.
Earlier, in a public meeting at Sagar on May 9 he had held Sadhna Singh responsible for sale of Gutka pouches in the State at high prices, Joshi said, adding that the statements in the court were similar to that mentioned in the legal notice.
As per the notice, at the Khargone meeting, Ajay Singh had said “Shivraj Singh ji ne sarvajanik jeevan me avivahit rahne ka sanklap liya tha. Phir rajniti me chamkate hi ve Sadhna Singh ke roop me note ginane ki machine laaye (Shivraj Singh Chouhan had resolved to remain bachelor in his public life but as he shone in the political arena he brought a currency note counting machine in Sadhna Singh).”
