There has been a 20 per cent  rise in arrival of foreign tourists in Madhya Pradesh, while the number of domestic tourists in the State has increased by 30 per cent, informed Mohan Yadav, chairman, Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation while talking to media here.

He said the MP Tourism Development Corporation taking a serious note of incidents of crime against foreign tourists in the State, has decided to strengthen security measures at all the major tourists destinations in the state and accordingly additional security personnel will be deputed at all the places of tourists importance in the State which are being visited by both the foreign and domestic tourists, Yadav informed.

Talking about incidents of crime against foreign tourists in the State, he said it happens as foreigners stay at any places, rather than notified places of MPTDC.

Replying to a question, Yadav denied that the State Government has any inclination to hire a Bollywood celebrity as its brand ambassador  to promote tourism in the State. We do not have money hire a big Bollywood celebrity as brand ambassador of the State, he said adding that though revenue from tourism may see a rise temporarily by hiring Bollywood celebrity as brand ambassador but when the contract Bollywood celebrity expires, the revenue from tourism declines and the same thing will happen with Gujarat which has made Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachhan as its brand ambassador, the MPTDC chairman said.
