State to receive moderate rainfall in next 24 hrs

Southwest Monsoon has been kind enough for the State this year, so much so that, during all the four months, good rains have been recorded over the region. In fact, on several occasions, heavy to very heavy rains have also occurred over the region.

However, Monsoon rains had taken a backseat over the State for the past few days. Monsoon rains were far and few over the region. Nevertheless, Southwest Monsoon picked up pace again during the last 48 hours. The last 24 hours were also rainy and good showers were recorded over the southern parts of the State. These Monsoon showers can be attributed to the upper air cyclonic circulation which is currently over southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. During the next 24 hours, a few more good spells of Monsoon rains is expected over the south and the southwestern parts of the State. Other areas of the State are also expected to witness scattered rains.

The cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha has now shifted over South Madhya Pradesh. A trough is also extending from the system up to North Arabian Sea across Gujarat. With this, moderate to heavy rains are likely South Madhya Pradesh, while heavy to very heavy rains may occur over North Coastal Maharashtra including Mumbai.

Humid easterly winds from Bay of Bengal are also reaching up to East and Northeast India, bring scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers over parts of Northeast India and foothills of Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh. A fresh cyclonic circulation has come up over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Odisha and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. It will bring scattered light rains in parts of West Madhya Pradesh.
