State sees 1.72 L Covid recoveries, 3,092 deaths

After around eight months of reporting the first case of Covid-19 of the State on March 20 this year, the number of infected patients who have recovered from the virus assault have risen to close to 1.72 lakh.

As the cases of infections are fast diminishing in the State, Covid-19 hotspots –Bhopal and Indore, are still reporting fresh cases in large numbers, though not as much as in the past.

As on Monday, the State reported 597 fresh cases, 745 recovered from the virus and two died battling the viral attack. Presently, only 89,96 patients are under treatment at various dedicated hospitals across the state.

By Nov 16, a total of 1,72,436 patients have recovered completely from the novel corona virus in the State, while 3092 have died.

Major cities which reported maximum cases of infections still are generating fresh cases including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Sagar. However, among these, Bhopal and Indore are recording 100 -200 new cases on regular basis in the recent past.

On Monday, Bhopal recorded 141 new cases, Indore 89, Jabalpur 29, Gwalior 27 and Sagar 31.

In the last week, Bhopal and Indore have respectively recorded – 1435 and 975 cases respectively, keeping the authorities on their toes. Close to 1.72 lakh patients have been cured completely in the state till now.

With a total of over 1.83 lakh cases presently, Madhya Pradesh stands at 17th place among states in terms of total numbers of Covid-19 cases nationally.

However, the authorities and commoners are sceptical about the possible ‘second wave’ of the virus attack. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the eve of Diwali had cautioned the public saying, “Everyone must continue practicing precautions against the fatal virus.”

In a televised address, Chouhan has said that state government has no plans for another lockdown but urged the public to continue practising the safety measures including wearing masks and frequent washing of hands. He had mentioned that fresh cases of infections are on the rise of late.

There are rampant speculations that the administration could resort to another lockdown as the cases are on the rise in recent past.

However, in most of cities and towns, the locals are increasing lowering their guard against the virus attack as mass gatherings have increased and usage of masks has declined significantly. Markets were buzzing with activities in state capital Bhopal and elsewhere in the state.
