State Govt's efforts to make agriculture profitable yielding

The State Government’s efforts to make agriculture a profitable occupation have started to yield better results.

Its precedent has been set by farmers of Bhopal division. These farmers have created a new record in crop production by adopting ‘Yantradoot’ scheme of the State Government.

Than Singh Yadav, a farmer of village Sasunpura in Vidisha district, has 9 hectares land. Earlier, Yadav used to grow 20 quintals of wheat in one hectare.

After his village was declared as ‘Yantradoot’ village, he performed all the works right from preparation and sowing through advanced farm implements scheme. As a result, he yielded 32 quintals of wheat per hectare.

The Chief Minister conferred `5,000 award to him for this achievement.

Meherban Singh, a farmer of village Chavna in Raisen district, used to sow seeds through seed drill in 6.4 hectare. later, he started preparing for cultivation through rotavator. Sowing was done through seed-cum-fertiliser drill after grading and treating sees.

As a result, wheat yield increased from 35 to 50 per hectare. Another farmer of the same village Shivendra Rajput has 4.8 hectare field.

He also used to cultivate through traditional method. So much grass had grown in his fields that it become very difficult to prepare them for cultivation.

He used rotavator, which ripped off the grass in just one go.

This has increased Rajput’s belief in agricultural implements and he started cultivation after availing technical guidance. As a result, he got yield of 48 quintals of wheat per hectare, which is 37 per more than earlier.

Similarly,  Kamal Singh Parmar is a farmer of village Taqipur in Sehore district. He has only 2.50 hectare land in which he used to produce 90 quintals of wheat. He is now producing 125 quintals through new technique. Similar is the tale of Devi lodhi and  Jagdish Vishwakarma of village Semra Sayyad.

Generally, villages are dominated by SC, ST and weaker section, therefore farmers are selected under the  Yantradoot Gram Yojana inorder to avail them such facilities.

Farmers of selected villages are making main axis of mechanisation and trained for improving soil fertility, seed quality , sowing methods and finer points in following scientific methods.

The trained farmers are adopting these skills and methods in their fields and becoming financially strong by increasing production yield.
