Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that providing house to everyone will be focus of the State Government during next 5 years. Schemes are underway to construct houses for the poor in urban and rural areas. Participation of private sector in the process should be considered. He urged the real estate developers to come forward and cooperate in the process of converting urban slums into houses.
Chouhan was addressing inaugural session of Bhaskar Real Estate Conclave here on Wednesday. Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur was also present on the occasion.
Chouhan said that the earth belongs to all. Everyone should get food, clothing, education, medicines and housing. These are the fundamental rights, which should be meted out by the government and society. It is necessary to chalk out balanced policies in which there is development of real estate and the poor should also have right to housing. He said that the government is making efforts to this effect. Real estate developers should also become partners in these efforts.
Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh is developing fast. Some years ago, 24X7 power supply was a mere dream in the state. Today, this dream has been realised in 25 districts and will be fulfilled in remaining districts also shortly. Irrigation potential in the state has been increased to 25 lakh hectare from 7 lakh hectare.
Efforts are underway to bring Narmada water to Malwa region. He said that it is necessary for practicability and success of a scheme that the people for which they are being chalked out should become active partners in policymaking. Such public partnership has been ensured through panchayats in the state. ladmi laxmi Yojana and Tirth-Darshan Yojana are the results of panchayats of women and senior citizens. That is why they are successful. He said that this conclave is also a panchayat of real estate. Its conclusions and views expressed at it will be considered seriously.
During question hour, the Chief Minister referred to undue interference in real estate business by the Union Government saying that states should also have the right to chalk out such policies and schemes. State Government’s view in this regard is being presented before the Union Government.
