Schemes launched by the State Government have increased the purchasing power of common people in a period of economic contraction, claimed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday.
"The food security scheme of the Centre is still caught in uncertainty, but the scheme of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to provide wheat at Rs 1 per kg and rice at Rs 2 per kg from June 1 is going to benefit nearly 3.5 crore population of the State," Tomar said.
He further stated that under the chief minister's scheme eight lakh antyodaya families and 56 lakh below poverty line families will be distributed cheap food grains and iodine salt at highly subsidised rates. "This will cost the exchequer nearly `800 crore. This scheme provides food grains to the poor families at rates much cheaper than the proposed scheme of Centre," he added.
"The State Government has increased the purchasing power of farmers here providing bonus of Rs 150 on every quintal of wheat. Similarly, it has also granted relief to consumers by reducing the entry tax on lPG cylinders due to which the subsidised cylinders are cheaper `20 and non-subsidised ones by `40," Tomar remarked.
"The BJP Government has always aimed at increasing the income of common people. Welfare schemes of the State Government have also helped in boosting the financial resources of the families affected by poverty. The ladli laxmi Yojna has not only given security girl child, but it also provides an insurance of `1 lakh”, he said.
“Similarly, Kanyadaan Yojna has removed the burden of marriage from heads of parents. Under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgaar Yojna, unemployed youth are given loan of `25 lakh with 5 per cent subsidy on interest. This has provided income security to the youth," Tomar added.
