The State Election Commission has decided to upload the affidavits of the candidates for chairperson and corporators of urban bodies in the State on the Commission’s website.

The maiden experiment of this innovation is being made during elections to Tonk Khurd and Pipalrawan Nagar parishads in Dewas district. Affidavits of candidates contesting elections from these areas have been uploaded on the commission’s website and everyone can see them.

On the lines of Vidhan Sabha elections, affidavits with nomination papers are taken from candidates in urban body elections containing information about moveable & immoveable property, income, crimes, cases pending in courts etc. This information is available on State Election Commission’s website www.mplocalelection.gov.in.

State Election Commissioner R Parasuram has informed that affidavits taken from candidates in the panchayat elections will also be uploaded on the website.

In Tonk Khurd Nagar Parishad, 4 candidates are in the fray for Chairman and 61 candidates for Corporator’s posts and 8 candidates for Chairman and 58 candidates for Corporator’s posts in Pipalrawan Nagar Parishad. Polling at both places will be held on August 6 from 7 am to 5 pm and counting will be held on August 9.

Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has directed all district collectors and district election officers to ensure that master trainers appointed by the commission are not relieved on their transfer without permission from it. Commission’s Secretary GP Shrivastava said that process for urban body and Panchayat elections has begun. Master trainers’ role is vital in it.

letters have been written to Higher Education, School Education, Technical Education and Skill Development departments asking them not to transfer master trainers till completion of electoral process. If transfer has to be effected due to some reasons, permission should be sought from the commission.
