Soon after the apex court ordered that all criminal cases and cases of deaths of persons connected to the Vyapam scam be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the State Congress has demanded resignation of Madhya Pradesh Governor Ramnaresh Yadav and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Former leader of opposition in the State assembly Ajay Singh in a statement here on Thursday said, “The governor and the chief minister do not have any right to remain in office even for a minute after the Supreme Court order that all criminal cases and cases of deaths of persons connected to the Vyapam scam be transferred to the CBI. Keeping in mind the credibility and the dignity of the offices they are holding both Chouhan and Yadav should step down immediately.”
Singh further said that after Supreme Court’s order now it becomes essential that chief minister Chouhan should first of all step down from the chair he is holding so that impartial, independent and pressureless probe could be done. If Chouhan remains in office than the evidence of the case could be tempered and the witnesses would remain under mental stress and frightened, he added.
He said that after the death of 49 persons associated with the infamous scam those who are associated or involved in it are under great stress and they are in shock and scared. The senior Congress leader also requested the Supreme Court to carry out the whole investigation by the CBI under its monitoring so that tempering could not be done.
