The State Congress has demanded inquiry into the riot in Susner town of Agar district by a retired High Court judge. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Arun Yadav in a statement said, “A delegation of the State Congress led by State vice president Manak Agarwal was sent to Susner to take stock of the riot that happened in that town on June 30.
The delegation on reaching Susner holds discussion with the riot victims and came to know that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activists were involved in rioting.”
Yadav further said that the delegation came to know that the BJP and RSS activists were not of Susner instead some of them came from the neighbouring State Rajasthan while remaining were from surrounding places. “These rioters set ablaze over two dozen shops causing losses to the tune of lakhs of rupees,” he added.
He said that those whose shops have been burnt have been left with no other means of livelihood and the police have filed cases on these innocent persons. The district administration in the name of help provided just Rs 6,000 each while their losses are much higher than that, some of them have even suffered losses of 10 and twenty lakh of rupees, he added. The Congress delegation also called on the district collector and Superintendent of Police during its visit and demanded for adequate and justified compensation for the riot victims. On the basis of the Congress delegations’ report the State Congress has demanded probe of the riot by a retired High Court Judge so that the culprits behind the act get exposed.
