State Cong hails K'taka victory

Published on:

State Congress leaders hailed the victory of the party with absolute majority in Karnataka Assembly polls on Wednesday and claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) debacle in Karnataka would be repeated in the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh.

"The self-styled prime ministerial candidate of BJP, Narendra Modi, on whom the party was banking in the 2014 general elections, has been exposed in Karnataka," leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Ajay Singh, said.

Claiming that BJP had paid the price of minting money through illegal mining in Karnataka, he added, "now it will also pay the price of illegal mining here which is much bigger than Bellary scam." "People of Karnataka have reposed faith in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and they have shown the door to BJP that was sitting on a throne of gold with much arrogance. BJP, which came to power for the first time in south India, has proved that it is not trustworthy ," he said.

Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Kantilal Bhuria said the Karnataka victory marks the beginning of electoral reverses for BJP in an election year.

"BJP State governments are paying the price of their sins. This truth has been proved by Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and now Karnataka," Bhuria said.

"Two BJP Chief Ministers, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Narendra Modi toured the State with great fanfare to ensure the party's victory, but the people of Karnataka have shown that these two BJP Chief Ministers are merely paper tigers. People have shown these two leaders, who keep dreaming about becoming Prime Minister, their true worth," he added.

Hailing Karnataka victory, Madhya Pradesh Mahila Congress chairperson Archana Jaiswal said "this is the victory of pro-people policies pursued by the Congress-led UPA. Karnataka people have voted against corrupt and reactionary policies of BJP there."

Bhopal Youth Congress vice-president Pradeep Monu Saxena said the victory of Congress in Karnataka had exposed the real face of Narendra Modi who has damaged the integrity of the country. At the same time the positive and developmental leadership of Rahul Gandhi has also come before the people, he added.

Madhya Pradesh Congress Sewa Dal has also welcomed the Karnataka victory as a symbol of trust and faith reposed by the people of the country in Congress.

Celebrations were held at every district office of the party. Party office-bearers and workers joined the ranks to congratulate the Gandhi family for this victory.

No licence to loot for Cong: Tomar

Bhopal: "Congress has not received licence to loot by its victory in Karnataka," reacted Bharatya Janata Party (BJP) State president Narendra Singh Tomar on the victory of Congress in Karnataka Assembly polls.

"It was evident that BJP will loose when it decided to adhere to clean politics instead of politics of vote. We respect the people's verdict, but we are proud that BJP gave priority to values and not power. This is our strength. BJP's loss in Karnataka is a victory of values," Tomar said.

BJP aims at ending the reign of fear, hunger, price rise and corruption in the country and to establish good governance here, he said. SR
