Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has recommended to the State Government to start victim compensation scheme within six months besides providing compensation of Rs1 lakh to a rape victim child.

The MPHRC recommended the State Government on Tuesday to start Victim Compensation scheme under section 357 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for the victims of the crime within six months and to make arrangements of paying Rs1 lakh to the seven-year-old rape victim of Balaghat.

The MPHRC taking cognisance of the rape incidence of this minor girl told the State Government to pay interim compensation of Rs1 lakh  within a month to the father of the victim for her dignity and secured life.

The other recommendations made by the MPHRC say that the Madhya Pradesh Government runs many schemes like ladli laxmi to make girls future bright, but there is no special scheme for secured future of the rape victim girls.

Hence, a scheme should be made for the secured future, treatment and education of the rape victim girls. Besides, the MPHRC told the State Government to provide secured environment for the girls to visit the anganwadis, as the girl child raped was returning home from the Anganwadi when she was raped.

The father of the rape victim has approached the MPHRC and said that the rape accused was punished under protection of girl child act with life imprisonment and a fine of Rs25,000, but his daughter is very much frightened with the incidence and has lost her mental balance.

She could not be compensated by any means hence, she should be provided with financial aid. After hearing the complainant, the MPHRC sought report from the Balaghat collector. The collector informed the MPHRC that there is no provision of providing financial aid in such cases.  That is why the MPHRC recommended to the State Government to make scheme for providing financial assistance in such cases.
