Employees and officials of various State Government departments in the State capital staged dharna and demonstrated in front of Mantralaya here on Wednesday for implementation of 51-point demands related to salaries and service conditions.
Madhya Pradesh Class III Employees Federation president Arun Dwivedi informed that officials and employees of 56 different departments participated in the agitation represented by 19 recognised and 50 unrecognised unions and associations.
Among the major demands of the employees include a hike in grade pay of the employees. “The grade pay should be fixed at Rs 4,200 for pay scale of Rs 5,000-8,000 and Rs 5500-9000 and for pay scale of Rs 6,500-10,000 grade pay should be Rs 4,800. Besides, the Dearness Allowance (DA) of the State Government employees should be fixed from the date of implementation of the new DA of Central Government employees,” Dwivedi said.
“The retirement age of the employees should also be increased to 62 years for those currently retiring at 60 and 65 years for those retiring at 62. Provision for compassionate appointments should also be made,” he added.
Apart from this, keeping in view the poor wages and service condition of the daily wages employees and contract employees, we have also demanded that all such employees should be regularised and their salaries and service conditions made equivalent to the regular employees, he further said.
Another significant demand of the employees and officials include implementation of a fixed career promotion plan to give promotion at regular interval of 10, 20 and 30 years of service.
The employees have also supported the ongoing strike by the Government school teachers and demanded that the teachers should be merged with School Education Department and paid
salaries equal to the regular teachers.
Dwivedi also informed that in case the government does not heed to these demands, a dharna will be staged on March 14 in the State capital followed by grand rally on March 17 to be joined by employees from across the state. Further, we are planning to take collective leave on April 9 and to start an indefinite strike from April 17 if the State Government fails to address our legitimate demands, he added.
