One of the most reputed educational institutions in the state capital, St Joseph’s Convent School, Eidgah Hills, marked Republic Day with the unfurling of the national flag amid scenes of celebration as the alma mater exhorted students to “Be the beacon of integrity.”
School alumna, teacher, and municipal councillor Priyanka Mishra was the chief guest at the event, which was attended by a large number of students and teachers.
The junior school band presented the guard of honour to the chief guest before she joined Sister Stenia to hoist the tricolour to mark the Republic Day festivities. Following this, a prayer service was held. At the end of the prayer service, the students' choir sang the hymn “Bharat Mera Ab Rahe Sada Khushhaal Mere Daatta” in honour of the nation, and afterwards, the junior school band played the tune of “Sare Jahan Se Achha.”
A special cultural programme was organised on this occasion. The school choir performed the patriotic song "Hindustan Meri Jaan," which stirred a sense of pride among the audience.
A KG student expressed her thoughts on the significance of Republic Day. Additionally, the students performed a beautiful dance to the song "Ehsaas Thoda To Jagayein Apne Dilon Mein Hum." The chief guest, Priyanka Mishra, appreciated this vibrant and meaningful programme and, while addressing the gathering, mentioned that the event reminded her of her student and teaching days. She said, "The values we learned and internalised during our school days are the reason we have achieved whatever we are today."
