SPs told to inform Police HQ on each complaint

All Superintendents of Police across the State have been instructed to report factual information to the State police headquarters regarding each complaint, instructed Director-General of Police Surendra Sinh on Monday. In a circular issued by DGP Sinh, he has instructed Superintendents of Police across the State to provide the factual information within 24 hrs of receiving complaints from the citizens. To decrease the delay in the initiation of the investigation factual information regarding the complaint should be reported over phone within 24 hrs.

Another step to confirm that action has been taken on the complaint, the SP would send the report of the First Information Report (FIR) within 15 days after receiving the information. The reports should be sent without fail to the Chief Staff Officer of the DGP office and after the completion of the investigation final report should be sent to the concerned department.

The newly-devised system would be monitored and maintained by DGP Sinh who would be monitoring and reviewing the complaints collected from across the State. Notably, on every Tuesday during public hearing at State police headquarters, complainants across the State provide their problems to the DGP or to the ADG assigned by the DGP.

Apart from the public hearing, people can also provide their problems to the DGP. During the public hearing people who have made their complaints with the police stations and senior police officials visit the DGP where the complainants are given a patient hearing and every possible immediate action is taken by instructing the concerned police official and personnel.
