A spoken word poetry competition ‘Ink Poetry Slam’ will be organised for the poet lovers of the city.
Organised by Swami Vivekananda library’s poets club ‘Club Ink’, the spoken word poetry would be held for the first time in Bhopal.
The competition would be held at Swami Vivekananda library premises here on Saturday. Further, the competition is also being organised to observe the International Women’s Day that falls on March 8 every year.
Notably, the spoken word poetry is much known to people in America and it is gaining more and more popularity each day. Now, the Bhopalites would also experience the charm of Spoken Word Poetry.
Notably, spoken word poetry is poetry that is written on a page but performed for an audience. Because it is performed, this poetry tends to demonstrate a heavy use of rhythm, improvisation, free association, rhymes, rich poetic phrases, word play and slang. It is more aggressive and ‘in your face’ than more traditional forms of poetry.
Besides, the competitions that are held for the spoken word poetries are known as ‘Poetry Slam’. The first Poetry Slam of Bhopal would be held here on Saturday.
The poetry slam would be held on the topic ‘Enigma of Women’ and would be in English language only. Each participant would be a time limit of three minutes to perform his or her poetry before the listeners. Further, the participant can perform his or her original poetry or also any poetry by an eminent poet or poetess.
The aspirants can participate in the competition by registering their names at Swami Vivekananda library. To register the names, membership of the library is mandatory and any age group can participate in the competition. Further, only 30 aspirants can participate in the competition. The competition would be conducted by Devanshi Khetrpal, a young authoress and a school student.
