A 7-year-old girl died and her mother sustained serious injuries after a speeding truck hit them while crossing the road near Trinity College under the Bilkharia police station area on Sunday.
The girl’s father Ram Singh, who was with them, took the mother and daughter to the Hamidia hospital where the girl was declared dead and the mother, Paipi Bai, is undergoing treatment.
According to the police, the girl, Tara Bai, and her mother were hit by the speeding truck. After the mishap, the driver of the truck bearing registration number RJ -14 -GC-1570 fled from the spot leaving behind the truck. The police have registered a case under section 304 A of the IPC and have started searching for the errant driver. The victim was resident of Khajoori Khurd and at the time of incident they were on their way to Kanhasaiyya village. The condition of the mother is reported stable.
