A 21-year-old youth died while two others escaped with injuries after his scooter was hit by an unidentified speeding truck in Govindpura late in the night on Monday; Govindpura police have started investigation.
Police said that three persons injured in a bike-truck collision were rushed to a nearby hospital where one of them was declared dead while two escaped with injuries.
The scooter was hit at a diversion board, meant to change the route in which one died while other escaped with injuries. In the scooter three persons were riding and both sustained injuries.
The deceased was identified as Kasim Khan who was rushed Om hospital and later referred to Hamidia hospital where he died during treatment. The deceased was riding pillion while Sonu was riding the bike.
The scooter was hit at Rachna Nagar while the truck bearing registration number MP15G2561 was moving speedily from Prabhat Petrol pump.
After the preliminary investigation police have sent the body was post mortem and a case under section 304 A of the IPC was registered.
The injured persons are undergoing treatment at hospital and their statements are yet to be recorded said police.
The police have started investigation to identify and track the truck. The truck driver was in an inebriated state or not would be investigated in the further investigation.
The victims were trying to cross the road during which they were hit. Truck was seized by the police while the errant driver managed to escape the spot.
