Special facilities for deaf and dumb at Ijtema

Special arrangements have been made for the deaf and dumb persons to translate the sermons in sign language during the 68th edition of the three-day Aalami Tablighi Ijtema (World Islamic Congregation) that starts here on Saturday after Fajir (pre-dawn) prayers.

The special feature of the Ijtema arrangements for deaf and dumb people who come in Jamaats from all over the World would be that they are housed separately besides all the sermons from the main ‘pandal’ are translated to them in sign language. Their disability does not come in their way to leave their home and hearth to learn and inculcate the basic teachings of Islam to become righteous Muslims.

This special arrangement for the deaf and dump persons started few years back after it was noticed that sizeable number of deaf and dump persons also comes in Jamaats from the world over and they faces problem because of their disability. Considering their problem the Ijtema organizing committee started special arrangements for their stay and translations of all the sermons in sign language for them.

Ijtema organising committee member Atiqul Islam while talking with ‘The Pioneer’ said, “Special arrangements for stay and translation of all the sermons in sign language has been made for the deaf and dump people to encourage them for larger participation in the religious work.”

The congregation that would begin on Saturday November 28 would come to an end in the morning of Monday November 30 with the mass Dua (prayer).

The congregation is said to be the largest Islamic gathering after Hajj at Makkah in Saudi Arabia and the ‘Bishwa Ijtima’ at Tongi in Bangladesh. The annual congregation here draws between 10- 15 lakh Muslims from all over the globe.  A tent city spread over 185 acres of land with marquees on 46 acres has come up at the Ijtima site which is about 12 kilometers on the northern outskirts of Bhopal at Ghasipura in Eintkhedi village.
