Speaker felicitates senior journalists in IFWJ’s prog

Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Girish Gautam felicitated senior journalists of the state by participating in the State level seminar organized by the Indian Federation of Working Journalists on Tuesday.

State Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Development, Ramkhelawan Patel was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the program, Gautam said that the role of journalists has changed with the passage of time. In the emergency, we used to read the news on the third day of the incident. At that time only newspapers were the important means of information, but today along with electronic media, the news reaches the people in a few moments through the medium of social media. Information revolution should be used in solving the problems of public and common man.

Gautam said that real journalism is not only about reporting the incident after seeing it, but also bringing out the reasons behind that incident.

Underlining the market dominating journalism in the present era, Gautam said that today there is a need to create readers not customers of newspapers. News should be published on electronic media and social media, but it should also be kept in mind that the joy that is in face to face is not in Facebook. Even in the age of social media, we also need to protect human relations and social interests. Journalists' writings should be so strong that they become the voice of the common man and no one can question it.

Gautam also released the book of Responsibility on this occasion and said intimacy comes in face to face and there is information in Facebook.

He also announced a grant of Rs 50000 as an incentive for the education of Falguni Purohit, a differently-abled girl child with her melodious voice and singing the national anthem. The Speaker also wished a bright future for the girl child.
