Soumitra Ghosh is a famous elocutionist, though he despises this word as it limits him to one specific genre. For him, an elocution performance includes singing, reading news, poetry and lots more. He considers himself as a worker of recitation. Next year, Soumitra Ghosh is going to complete 20 years of his journey.
He had hosted the program "Maa Durgar Protima Niranjan" by the river Ichamati in 2008 by Kolkata Doordarshan. He was an artist at DD Bangla "Kobita Jokhon Aabritti". He has recorded several poetries for his YouTube channel too. He has worked with the leading artists of this field like Jagannath Basu, Urmimala Basu, Bratati Bandopadhyay, Subodh Sarkar and the list goes on. He has also performed in the National Poetry Festival at Dhaka, Bangladesh.
He met Pranab Mukherjee when he was the President of India. In 2011, he performed with Zentrum Fau and Sunil Parishad at German Berlin Poetry Club. Poet and prominent personality late Sunil Gangapadhyay was also present there. He is engaged with Sunil Gangapadhyay's magazine “Krittibas”. He has also worked with Srijato in the year 2014, in association with Taki Municipality.
Sukhaishi Art and Craft had organised Soumitra Ghosh's solo performance. "Shopnobhongo O Notun Shopno" and "Notun Kichu" are the names of his two published Cds. On 26th June; 2017 people celebrated his 15 years of Poetry at Kala Mandir through event "Teen Bhuboner Taare". In this event famous artists like Srikanta Acharya and Srijato were present. At present, Soumitra Ghosh is a renowned performer in West Bengal, Bangladesh and other corners of the world.
