Social media platforms which are primarily used by people to air their views, opinions and upload updates on various topics of late are proving to be quite effective in curbing crimes and solving petty problems of the people as well. Among various State Government ministries and Union ministers, the Union railway ministry and rail minister appear to be quite prompt in solving personal problems of railway travellers and commuters. Just tweet your problems, solutions will reach you within the earliest possible time.
In a recent case, the Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu acting promptly on a complaint sent on his twitter account by a girl traveller, arranged safe return of her travelling bag which had went missing while she was on her way to Indore by Jammu-Tawi Express from New Delhi.
According to railway sources, bag of a girl identified as Puja Kumari who had boarded 22942 Jammu-Tawi-Indore Express from New Delhi railway station on Wednesday, saw her trolley bag missing after she got down from her B 1 AC coach at Indore railway station on Thursday. She immediately informed about the same to the Union railway minister on his twitter account. Acting swiftly, the Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu sought PNR No of her ticket forwarded the message to the Western Railway for prompt action.
After receiving message from the Union railway minister, the Western Railway officials entrusted Indore RPF to probe into the matter and recover the lost trolley bag of the complainant. Acting upon the complaint, Indore RPF TI Sudhir Agnihotri collected PNR No of the Jain family who was sitting beside Puja in the same compartment.
Thereafter, he collected contact number and address of Jain family from IRTC New Delhi. The RPF TI contacted B M Jain who said that trolley bag of Puja was mistakenly taken by him while he got down at Ujjain railway station.
Jain was asked to bring the trolley bag at Ujjain railway station. Subsequently, a staff of Indore RPF went to Ujjain railway station, collected trolley bag from Jain and returned to Indore.
RPF officials of Indore later handed over the trolley bag to Puja on Friday at Indore railway station within 24 hours of the incident.
Apparently surprised by alacrity of railway, Puja who had come to Indore to meet her brother at Mhow, thanked the union railway minister and the Indore RPF jawans and officials for their promptness.
Prompt initiative of railway ministry in such matters, is slowing reinforcing faith of the common people on the railway, said a frequent railway commuter Thakur Jagdish Singh while talking to this newspaper.
